Biological indicators are test systems containing viable microorganisms that provide a defined resistance to a specific sterilization process. A biological indicator provides information on whether the necessary conditions were met to kill a specified number of microorganisms for a given sterilization process, ensuring a high level of confidence in the cycle.
The 4A Ethylene Oxide Biological Indicator (4AEOBI) is specifically designed for monitoring Ethylene Oxide (EO) sterilization processes. The final readout of the indicator should be made after 48 hours of incubation at 37 °C +- 2 °C.
